The argument possibly is one of the toughest to carry out. While supporting the fact that visual aids help a lot of users to understand or click the ads simultaneously, but the text ads can’t be put aside as they are of equal importance. There has been a problem associated with banner ads which has termed as banner blindness. Here the only way to enhance your CTR is a text ad. Banners if not designed properly would look unwieldy and won’t help any further. To place banners you must ensure the type of product or content your ad is displaying. If the content is conventional a banner ad in that case won’t be of much as users would click through text only. But some kind unconventional product would receive good traffic if displayed in form of images or banner ads. And the problem associated with banner ads is that you have to constantly update or vary the images or graphics at intervals else it would become stereotype for the viewers.
Cases have been recorded where publishers have gained good revenues out of banner ads and elsewhere banner ads have failed dreadfully. It completely depends upon the website, the type of content and visits to choose the kind of ad to put. And if you can afford to optimize your ads with options of availability and non availability of graphics it helps you to reduce your cost incurred in the process. Texts come at a cheaper rate than banner ads. If the borders can be removed and rectangles can be used in case of graphics, the ads remain of good use. And a few default ads won’t harm either.
For text ads there is option of adding icons which make the content or the title attractive and guessable. So the question remains as to which ad to use, but put it this way that which would please the eyes and mind of the viewers. So wisely analyze your area and keep on varying the types until you get a stable curve of CTR, put on those extra few bucks you saved for your new music gear.
