Adsense

Hi All., Lately I’ve been concentrating on my new series Adsense for the Start Up.   Over the past couple of months my social traffic has increased considerably on this site and I am attempting to send the beginners elsewhere in order to reduce my social traffic/search traffic ratio on this site. I have read often and stand by it - if you want to make optimal returns with Adsense then you need to increase your search traffic (targeted) and reduce the amount of social traffic (un-targeted) that are clicking your ads. This will drastically improve your CPC and CTR.

The amount of questions I get regarding Adsense has increased. I thought it best to start over from scratch so that beginners can find all their answers in one place and not have to try and navigate this site for them.  The new area will be easier to navigate and it contains current info - this site has a lot of info but much of it is out of date spanning the last year.  It will be much easier in future to just point people to the new blog rather than answer the same questions over and over on this blog.

The next step is to dominate ALL the keywords and phrases associated with your niche. This will greatly increase your overall volume of targeted traffic. If you have followed my system - long winded posts using lots of long tails then you will have noticed that you can start driving traffic to your sites in short order. When starting a new site the traffic may not find you using your main keywords but they will find you for all the long tails. Ranking well for your long tails will help you rank for your main keywords if you choose your long tails properly. I have re-demonstrated this technique and urge you to read the following post if you are still not clear on how to choose and use keywords effectively in your posts and in your backlinks. Keywords and How to use them for Backlinks and for Post Content

There is still one step left in dominating a Niche. The final phase is to use your authority on your main site to support several other sites and vice-versa. There are 10 spots on page 1 of the serp’s for every keyword. You don’t have to stop at just one.

Having a successful Web site can create a tremendous amount of potential income for anyone.  Having the ability to capitalize on the amount of traffic your site is critical to gaining revenue from a popular Web site.  By using Google’s Adsense program, Webmasters have the ability to cash in on their site’s popularity, generating revenue from ads, which are posted on their Web site.

Google Adsense pays webmasters on a per-click basis for advertisements, which are posted on the Webmaster’s site. These advertisements are often in the form of text or banner ads. Thus, each time a person logs on to your Web site and clicks on an ad posted, you will receive payment.

Adsense users have found that there are several ways to increase traffic to their sites, and thus increasing the amount of revenue they see as a result of the Adsense advertisements. One of the best ways to increase traffic to a Web site is to post quality content on the site. Having high quality content will ensure the Webmaster that they will have high traffic  volumes on their site, and will allow for more opportunities for Web site visitors to click on the advertisement links, thus generating revenue for the site.

So once you have your site polished to the extent that there are not any gaping holes in your design and the existing content offers a nice flow to your Web site visitors, your next mission it is to generate traffic to your site. After all, without people visiting your Web site, it will be very difficult to generate Adsense revenue. It does not take a brain surgeon to figure out that the more traffic your site receives, the higher your Adsense revenue. Furthermore, if you are able to generate targeted traffic, meaning not just any old traffic, but traffic that very specifically wants to see the information that you offer on your Web site, you increase the likelihood of more Adsense revenues in your niche.

So the question will arise, how do you get targeted traffic? Let’s say you have a Web site about fly-fishing. Your traffic basically consists of a couple of your friends that visit your site when you ask them to. These particular friends that come to your Web site don’t share the passion that you have for fly-fishing so they basically look at the pictures and think “hey, that’s great,” and move on. This is a great example of traffic that is NOT targeted.

Some great ways to get actual targeted traffic onto your Web site is to get active in your niche and a network with potential Web site visitors. Most of the efforts that relate to this activity will take months to realize the fruits. If you’re networking activities are very minimal, it may even take years. So first and foremost, be patient.

Go to your favorite search engine and pull up some of the top Web sites about fly-fishing. If some of the top sites are blogs, you have a great opportunity to engage in online conversations and point people back to your Web site. Make sure that you do not appear to be begging people to just visit your site. Offer a reason. Make it relevant to the content being discussed. Make your comment something like “Great post, I just blogged about the same thing myself! I agree with blah blah blah, and I think you offer a great tip on how people can blah blah blah.” In other words, be specific about what you are commenting about, so that your efforts are not categorized as spam. All in all you can be very creative in your networking efforts and our future posts will explore some other networking methods. But for now, the main thing to practice it is being active!
