Since the inception of the Internet, the online advertisement industry has taken the business world by storm. Web site advertisements have quickly risen to one of the most paid for advertisement venues available in today’s market. Most new businesses know that in order to maintain competiveness with their rivals, they must target a portion of the online market. Taking advantage of online marketing is a great way to boost any company’s profit potential, regardless of their industry or products. When trying to make money online.
If you’re interested in starting an online advertising campaign, Google offers a program that can help you get started with ease and simplicity. Google AdWords is a program created to allow advertisers to market to customers via Google Web sites, searches, and affiliates. Using Google’s AdWords to jumpstart your online marketing campaign can help you make your company known in the online commerce industry, right from the comfort of your home.
AdWords works by allowing users to post ads via text or banners. These advertisements then show up on search pages and Web sites directed from the main Google site. Users of the service pay Google a “pay-per-click” fee each time an Internet user clicks on the link to the advertisement they posted.
The bulk of AdWords’ revenue comes via the Google search engine. Under the pay-per-click system, advertisers will specify search words which will trigger their advertisements.
For example, let’s say that you go to the Google search page and search for “used cars”. On the top of the search results page, you will see a small highlighted box which has several sponsors’ links. By clicking on the link, you will be directed to the sponsor’s Web site. In turn, Google will charge the predetermined fee each and every time a person clicks on that particular link. This offers a great way for companies to get more traffic to their Web sites based on relevant Google searches, and also serves as a primary source of revenue for Google.
Pay-per-click isn’t the only advertisement service which Google offers, however. In 2003 Google targeted placement advertisements. By using AdWords with this system, advertisers select topics, domain names, and keywords, which allow Google to then place these advertisements on what they determine to be relevant sites within the Google network of Web pages. Payment for this service is also on the pay-per-click method, with a current minimum charge of 25 cents per click on each advertisement. Although this may seem like a relatively large payment for one small click, each click could end up being hundreds of dollars in revenue for the advertising company.
In addition to these two forms of advertising, Google also allows AdWords advertisers to show their advertisements on the Google.com Web page. These ads are often in the form of the banners you commonly see on the Google home page. This allows for a tremendous amount of visibility for the advertising company. Google also works in partnership with other Web sites, allowing AdWords users to advertise on many other Web sites, generating even more traffic to their company’s Web site.
Getting started with Google AdWords is incredibly simple. Begin by going to adwords.google.com and clicking the “Start Now” button. From there, Google will guide you step-by-step and help you along in the process to begin advertising with the Google program.
When signing up for AdWords, you are given the option to purchase a Standard Edition account, or a Starter Edition account. The main difference between the two, other than price, is that the Starter Edition limits the range of features and functionality. The Starter Edition allows for only one product or service with simplified options. The Standard Edition allows for the full range of products and functionality, and is recommended for experienced users and larger businesses.
After selecting the type of package you wish to use, Google will help you with the rest. If you don’t already have a Web site created for your company, Google will help you design one before you begin advertising. From there, you will be guided through the process of setting up your advertisements. In a short amount of time, you will be well on your way to enjoying high traffic volumes to your site as a result of the excellent advertising services offered by Google.
